Today is Easter Sunday, a day for Christians to celebrate the rise of Jesus Christ into Heaven. It is an important symbol that the spirit moves on.

No matter your religious upbringing or belief, I believe that spirituality is an important part of health. This is especially true if you are faced with a scary diagnosis or a terminal prognosis. I often talk about the need to move from fear to faith, especially when it comes to your body. Conventional medicine and commercials for junk food and big Pharma solutions have brainwashed us into believing that we are dependent on drugs to heal. In doing so, we have forgotten the simple solutions found in nature.

Think about this. If you cut your finger, what happens? It bleeds to immediately wash away any possible infection or foreign bodies. White blood cells (white pus) go to the site to further fight infection. Red sticky platelets arrive so that you do not bleed to death. All without your conscious awareness.

The body has an innate ability to heal from within if we can get out of our own way.

Don’t get me wrong, medicines can be life-saving. The dose is the medicine or the poison. We’ve seen how the overuse of antibiotics in our food and prescriptions has led to antibiotic resistance as well as leaky gut and autoimmune disease. My point is, we often forget the simple solutions that are life-affirming. Like clean air, clean water, clean food and healthy thoughts.

Fear keeps us stuck in “fight or flight” or the sympathetic system overdrive. It keeps cortisol high (our stress hormones) and melatonin low. Melatonin is a very powerful hormone and antioxidant that heals the gut and tampers down cortisol. This is why some studies show that high-dose melatonin may prevent cancer metastasis. High cortisol and high blood sugar (which causes high cortisol too) fuel cancer.

The United States promotes cancer as a death sentence versus a chronic disease that requires diet and lifestyle change. This is a handout from the National Library of Medicine that I give to every client. It basically says that cancer is preventable (and therefore reversible!) with dietary and lifestyle change. For the body to heal itself, it needs to be in the Parasympathetic mode. This is the mode for rest and repair, rest and digest, and to be able to mate and ovulate. This is why fear is cancer-promoting.

It is true that we now have so many more stressors in our environment than ever before. Many homes still have asbestos, mold, lead and other heavy metals. Our water is polluted, and our municipal water treatments use toxic chemicals to disinfect. Go to ewg.org/tapwater to see what is in your local water. Mine has 32 detectable contaminants, including chromium hexavalent.

The movie, Erin Brockovich, portrayed by Julia Roberts, describes the legal battle that ensued after an increased rate of cancers were found in a small town in California. According to Erin, “What PG&E did was real. Don’t be fooled by other things that you have read. As early as 1965 this company knew that the facility in Hinkley, California was contaminating the groundwater with high levels of hexavalent chromium, and they chose to cover it up.”

We are inundated with toxicity. This is the bad news.

The good news is that the body has a miraculous ability to heal itself. The body can detoxify from even the most toxic substances such as mercury. It takes a healthy gut to do this.

If you have diarrhea, constipation, gas or bloating, these are all signs of dis-ease that have got to be addressed. Hippocrates said thousands of years ago that “All Disease Begins in the Gut”. Science continues to prove this today. The gastrointestinal tract is the seat of ~80% of your immune system. Whether you have cancer or an autoimmune disease or both, you need to heal the gut.

If you choose to undergo chemotherapy, radiation or surgery, you need to heal the gut before, during and after treatment. This is essential to allow your body to do what it does naturally, to heal and repair itself. Once the gut is healed, you can then slowly and safely increase detoxification. Don’t try and detoxify before healing your gut. You need to have good tight junctions, so the toxins are eliminated in your stool and not recirculated in your blood stream.

Address constipation first. Constipation can be a trigger for both autoimmunity and cancer. Have an easy, simple bowel movement every day. Find someone who can help you with this naturally without addictive or carcinogenic drugs.

Eliminate fake and toxic food. Eat real food with half your plate of green leafy vegetables.

Explore ways to turn fear into faith. Fear can be incapacitating or motivating.
Think of fear as the acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real.
& Faith as:
Feel. Don’t stuff your feelings, they are the gateway towards personal transformation.
Act. Results don’t happen from knowing something. They happen when you take action. Take action every day towards rebuilding your health.

Trust in your body’s Innate ability to heal from within.
Harmony. Find peace and harmony as the portal to healing.

Try one small simple solution per day to feel good and keep your body in a healing mode.

Carpe Diem. Seize today, this moment to make it the best day of your life. None of us are getting out of here alive. Make today count.

With Love,

Lisa
