I sent this out yesterday and realized the button didn’t work to register for the 21 Day KickStart to Wellness Program. Please forgive me as I work to learn to outsource technology. If you are not yet ready for a 21-day commitment, then how about a FREE 5-pound challenge? Does anyone need to lose an extra 5 pounds from eating too much figgy pudding? See what 5 pounds looks like!
Did you know that just 5 pounds of fat holds hundreds of miles of blood vessels, millions of inflammatory fat cells, and billions of disease-causing signals?!

I don’t know about you, but I am super psyched for a NEW Me in 2022! I am taking charge of myself and making changes to myself and my business this year. It’s a little scary growing outside your comfort zone, but that is the ONLY way to grow and transform.
If you want things to change, then you need to…well, CHANGE!
People think that change is hard and takes a lot of time. It’s not hard, it’s really very simple. First, you have to make a commitment to yourself. This can happen in an instant. Then you must take small simple steps. The tortoise wins the race. Success begets success. Start small, and celebrate the heck out of each win.
The goal is progress, not perfection.
How many times have you set a New Years resolution only to disappoint yourself? First of all, delete the need to beat yourself up. This is just plain self-mutilation and totally counterproductive. Stop it!
Second, know that if you could have met all your goals by yourself, you would have done it already! All of my clients are high-achieving and super smart. We are not meant to be on this earth alone. It takes a village. There’s an African proverb:
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”.
Third, take time to take an honest personal assessment. I remember being in Florida with my sister and looking at myself in a dressing room mirror. I was 35# heavier and I did not like what I saw. It seemed to just creep up on me and I was shocked. The weight was a symptom and the result of unresolved stressors. My life then felt like it was falling apart and this moment was a wakeup call that I needed to make the needed change.
Even our bad habits have a benefit, albeit short-lived. Understand why you do what you do and where the disconnect is psychologically. This is where the conscious mind and the unconscious mind don’t jive. For instance, you may say,
“I want to lose weight.”
but your subconscious is saying, “No way, I need this weight to protect myself“.
Or, “I want to stop drinking“.
The conscious brain sees the negative consequences. You see relationships crumbling, lost jobs and income.
However, the subconscious brain is saying,
“I need to drink to be social, or to relax”, or “I deserve this after all the stress I’ve been under”, or “I need this to sleep” or “I don’t want to be a teetotaler”
Do you see the disconnect? So we have to close this gap.
First, what is the worst thing that can happen if you DON’T follow your goals? For weight loss or alcohol addictions, the answer may seem clear. You might lose your health and relationships, you might end up suffering from a severe chronic disease, you might find yourself alone, divorced, or even homeless or in a nursing home. The subconscious mind is like the ice underneath an iceberg. It is much deeper, hidden and controlling.
So how do we bring light to this hidden iceberg of the subconscious mind?
When I was suffering from severe hypertension and I was in despair and told my MD colleague that I wasn’t afraid of dying, he said,
“Oh no, Lisa. You won’t die. You may just end up in a coma after a stroke where your husband will have to wipe the drool off your face and clean your bottom.”
OUCH! That hit home for me. That felt like my bottom line. That helped motivate me to stop ignoring this silent killer and to prioritize myself. This creates an emotional image that is hard to forget.
What image of you do you need, to commit to your goals, to losing those extra pounds or to prioritize your health? Let this pain motivate you to stay on track when you’d rather drown yourself in a chocolate shake or glass of wine.
Last but most importantly, close your eyes and imagine your life after meeting your goals. How will you look? How will people react to you? How will you feel? What would it be like to not have constant cravings? How will it feel when you are no longer consumed with where you will get your next fix?!
Can you feel this way NOW?
Know that there are people and programs here to support you. Those of us involved with AA have witnessed lost lives miraculously turned around. What’s incredible is that life is a whole lot more real and fun when you are not under the influence.
Above all, know and believe in your innate ability to heal from within.
Last month, I shared how only 1% of the population have the basic habits required to be healthy and happy and to stay that way…EEK!
