A small gift from me wishing you a Healthy Happy Holiday!

 Christmas Fun Detroit 2011

I am so very grateful for this growing community and your interest in optimal health and wellness. Thank you for joining my list and for taking the time to read and comment. I have a new website from which this blog is going out and would love to get your feedback and stimulate discussion so we can continue to learn and grow together. www.carpediemwellness.org

Someone told me years ago that I had the worse case of Superwoman complex she had ever seen. This is one of the biggest challenges I see this time of year, the myth that we should do all, and be all…all by ourselves. Expectations are particularly high during the holidays when we strive for the perfect gift, the perfect meal, the perfect dress, etc… This extra stress can dampen the real meaning and connection behind the season and leave us feeling tired or depleted. Believe me, I use to go to bed on many holidays with a migraine! My clients from abroad tell me that in their countries woman share and do everything together but in the US, women do everything alone. Even worse, we beat ourselves up when we fall short of these unrealistic expectations! I believe that we were not meant to be on this earth alone and if you could have met all of your goals by yourself, you would have done it already. This is a time for compassion (of self and others) and connection.

Tomorrow, we will have twenty-some people here for a traditional Christmas Eve dinner and today we are preparing most of dinner so that we can relax and enjoy our family tomorrow. Doug will pick up the turkey, prepare and carve it. My sisters are bringing food and my daughters will help me shop, cook, clean and wrap presents. I am so grateful for all of this loving support! It hasn’t always been this way, I’ve had to learn how to ask for what I need and want without feeling guilty and we all prosper in the process. Coaching helped me practice and achieve this.

The desserts and cranberry sauce are included in my holiday guide, raw vegan pumpkin pie, chocolate dip with fresh fruit and my favorite is cranberry and pomegranate chia pudding.   These are all made with whole organic ingredients and are free of processed sugar and the top food allergens, gluten, dairy, soy and corn.

May you find joy, peace and happiness throughout this busy holiday season!

With Love & Gratitude,

Lisa
